Amnesia is a condition in which memory is disturbed. It is usually caused by an injury to the back of the head where the brain stores all of the person’s memory. The amount of damage taken can determine if the amnesia is permanent or temporary.
I think that amnesia would be one of my top ten things I would most dread having. It would leave me with none of my past memories and I may not even have the ability to speak. If I could take one memory with me, I think I would take the memory of 2006 Christmas in Ireland. During that time I met with all of my old friends and family and had an amazing time. I would pick this memory because I think it would be important to remember as much of my past as possible. And seeing as I am now in America, I should know as much as I can about my life back in Ireland.
I really enjoyed the Christmas in Ireland and it was a great time for me to socialize with all of my friends and family. I could not think of another time that I met all of my family members at the same time. There is the possibility that I will be going back to Ireland in the next few months and if not a year or so, so I think that it would be important to know about my homeland and about how things are done there. It would be very weird to return to a place you have lived at for most of your life and not know anything about it.
I think that this would be great memory to have because it help me come to terms with who my family was, what kind of life I lived, and who I was. From this memory I would also be able to learn as much as I could about myself. I would be able to find out what my likes and dislikes were from the types of presents I received, and about what kind of a family I came from.
This memory has always been special to me and I hope I never forget it. It reminds me of all the good times I had in Ireland and what I left behind…

mrs chapman and the holocaust
Why did Mrs. Chapman teach us all about the Holocaust?
Recently, Mrs. Chapman has been showing us movies of the Holocaust and been discussing it with us. I have found that I am taking a greater interest in anything that involves the Jews after learning about it. This led me to asking my dad about it. When I did he recommended that I read the predictions Jesus made in the Bible. I read this passage and I found that before he died he foretold that the Jews would suffer badly after he had died and barely forty years later Rome invaded and slaughtered many of the Jews and destroyed their cities.
. I feel that Mrs. Chapman has a great many reasons for wanting us to learn about this horrific period in time. For one, I think she wanted to show us that dictatorship in a country can be a risky business. In this case, Adolph Hitler was the one who was filled with the urge to become the leader of Germany and purify the world of all the Jews. if the country had not Had a dictatorship then the Jews may have been spared from the Holocaust. I think it also goes to show that one evil man in the world can do a lot of harm to anyone he feels like.
Another reason is that people can be cruel. Right now all of the people in our class can only think and read about the horrors in the world. The reason for showing us all the gory and Graphic movies is that Mrs. Chapman wants us to realize that life is not the happy-go-lucky, safe and reliable world that we live in right now. There are bad and evil people in the world and if we do not realize that soon, we are going to have a nasty surprise when we find out.
Finally I think Mrs. Chapman wants us to realize that the Jewish people have suffered greatly in the past two thousand years. The holocaust has transformed the way I look on the world. My classmates and I are at the age when we need to stop thinking life is safe and secure and realize that it is not a game. In short it is time to grow up.

If North Korea Bombed The World...
I don’t know much about the situation in North Korea but it is fun and interesting to imagine what would happen if they took the offensive in world politics or war. For example, if North Korea happened to bomb the entire world next week, it would be in chaos. Telephones down, no electricity, water shut off and gas stations out of order, in short the whole world would have to start again and rebuild the entire nation of America that we know it today.
The first thing to do would be to establish some sort of order in the world. Many who had studied to be lawyers or business entrepreneurs would have to learn to get their hands dirty. I think that we should have five main jobs that people should learn to be skilled at.
First up would probably be a farmer. This would be a very important job because most food stores in the world would be destroyed and those that were still standing would not last long with the amount of people it would have to feed but it would probably enough to last until the first harvest. Stores would also be unreliable because much of the food would go off quite quickly (except the twinkies).
The next job would be a doctor. After the bombing a lot of people would be wounded or sick, people with asthma would be particularly vulnerable because lots of dust, dirt and bacteria would be floating around. It would also be very important to keep as many of the survivors alive so they can help repopulate or help by training in one of the five jobs.
The third job would probably be a builder. Many of the houses in the world would have been reduced to toothpicks, so we would need people skilled in construction and building. The survivors would need to be given a place to sleep, so I think that a large multi-roomed structure would be the first thing to be put up before individual houses to be put up. Also, hospitals and churches would have to be erected quickly so a large amount of people would probably be needed to volunteer to train as a builder as it would be one of the most important jobs.
I think another good job would be engineers. As I said before the world would be divided and engineers would be needed to establish communications. Sewers, roads, and water would be needed. Water, in particular would be of utmost concern. The engineers would be needed to run the water plants, and if necessary, to divert a river to a more profitable location. Engineers would also be able to get electrical power to a certain area and therefore make the lives of the survivors a lot easier.
The last job for me would be a police officer. In times of great need, the opportunity for criminals would be immense. Law and order would have to be superior to those who defy it. If the world was going to be reborn and many of the former criminals wanted to give up those ways and start again should be welcomed. But those who have no interest in helping anyone else or giving up their old ways should locked up or shot. Many people may have lost family members and be so filled with cold anger, that they go and kill as many people as they can, and with the circumstances, I think that would be quite possible. If such an occasion should happen, police officers would be needed to stop them.
Well it was good fun thinking about what would happen North Korea made war, but I don’t think that that will be happening any time soon.
But, you never know…

If I Were an Animal...
If I was an animal I think that I would be an eagle. All my life I have
always wanted to be able to fly, and be able to soar through the sky and dive and
roll in the air. Then I would dive straight down to the ground and pull up a second
before impact. I would love to feel weightlessness and as if gravity was non-
existence. The eagle is also a very solitary and confined creature that spends most
of its life alone. I think this matches my solitary nature, even though I’m great
with people. Eagles are also very fast in the air. I am a fast runner and like the
eagle, I like to do things by myself. For, example, if I have a job to do, I will do
it by myself, in other words, I like to be independent. Eagles have very good
eyesight and I have twenty/twenty vision. I would very much like to be an eagle, but
I think I prefer myself like I am now.
If Mrs. Chapman was an animal I think that she would be an eel. Now, that
probably sounds like an awful thing to saw but it makes sense if you think about
it. First of all, eels are very, very single-minded, in other words, they
concentrate on one thing and one thing only, so they usually get the job done well
and quickly. It is the same with Mrs. Chapman, whenever she teaches something to us,
she stays at it until we all know the material that she is teaching to us, and like
the eel, she gets it done very fast, and we all learn it well. The eel is also
highly unpredictable, and I think that we can all safely say that Mrs. Chapman is
very unpredictable, whether it is with a water gun or a glass-shattering scream.
Anyway, that's just what I think.

subjects at school.
I go to FLint River Academy in Woodbury, Georgia.
At this school, I take four main subjects-english, math, social studies and science.
Now, I can understand learning about math and the history of our state in Social studies, but science and english, maybe not, let me explain.
In science last year, we learned about rocks. Yes, rocks, and sometimes (not meaning any offense to Mrs, Riggins or Mrs Chapmen) I wonder if we really need to know about metamorphic and igneous types of rocks, it does seem a little bit....eemm.....unnecessary.
Also in English, interrogative, demonstrative, advanced adverbs and adjectives..... do we really need to know all that?
anyway, this is the ambling thoughts of a thirteen-year old child.
anyone in my position would say the same thing.
but it makes you think, doesen't it?
