subjects at school.

I go to FLint River Academy in Woodbury, Georgia.
At this school, I take four main subjects-english, math, social studies and science.
Now, I can understand learning about math and the history of our state in Social studies, but science and english, maybe not, let me explain.
In science last year, we learned about rocks. Yes, rocks, and sometimes (not meaning any offense to Mrs, Riggins or Mrs Chapmen) I wonder if we really need to know about metamorphic and igneous types of rocks, it does seem a little bit....eemm.....unnecessary.
Also in English, interrogative, demonstrative, advanced adverbs and adjectives..... do we really need to know all that?
anyway, this is the ambling thoughts of a thirteen-year old child.
anyone in my position would say the same thing.
but it makes you think, doesen't it?

Good blog, Josh, even though I may not agree :), but I'll explain.
At your age, how do you REALLY know what you want to do? When I was a senior in high school, I THOUGHT I wanted to be a forest ranger. What a joke. Who knows, maybe you'll end up working in the field of geology one day, and those rocks will come in handy (although I must admit, my physical science teacher in college was a geologist, and ALL we did for the entire semester was study rocks - can't say I use that now except an occasional, "Oh, that sounds familiar!"
But, as far as English (speaking of which, all languages are to be capitalized, and other subjects, unless followed by a number, are not be capitalized. But with English, it's all about communication, and you WILL partake in that all throughout your life. Now, will you ever have to figure out the adverbs in a sentence? Probably not, but will you have to have critical thinking skills? Yes, and breaking down a sentence in English class is the same as dissecting a frong in science; it's all analyzing, which is critical thinking skills.
Too, sentences begin with capital letters, and my last name is Chapman, not Chapmen. :)
I look forward to reading more ambling thoughts of this thirteen year old, which also need to be a tad longer.
